Funeral services for Alfred Helberg, age 89, will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006. Rev. Joseph Myers will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Okla. Arrange-ments are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Alfred was born June 25, 1917, to Henry and Sophia Helberg on a farm two miles south of Breckinridge, Okla. He died Dec. 21, 2006, in Oklahoma City.

He attended the Lutheran School in Breckinridge. On Sept. 1, 1940, he married Aden McFarland of Breckinridge, making their home in the Fairmont and Breckinridge communities, moving to Garber in 1951. He was a farmer and was also well known for his ceramic tile work. He was a member of the Garber Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served the church for a number of years as chairman and Sunday school superintendent.

He is survived by one son, Arlo Dean Helberg and wife Delores of Choctaw, Okla.; three grandchildren, Deann Powers of Edmond, Okla., Dana Glasby and husband Kent of Sachse, Texas and Mike Helberg of Dallas, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Kalyn Powers of Edmond, Okla. and Aidan Glasby of Sachse, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and four brothers and three sisters.
