The memorial service for Marcella M. Hatfield, 91, Enid, is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Flynn officiating. Arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Marcella was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Hillsdale, to Oliver and Nellie (Sweger) Sweetwood and passed away August 29, 2017. She was reared and educated in Carrier and graduated from Carrier High School in 1944.

September 15, 1944, Marcella married Thomas W. Hatfield at the Vance Air Force Chapel, Enid. They then made their home in California for a short time until her husband was discharged from the service during WWII. Marcella worked as a waitress for a short time before their son was born. She began to take care of her husband after he became disabled in a work accident in 1971. Later he was put in a nursing home and she became a LPN and worked for St. Mary's hospital for many years, and took care of several family members. Marcella was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Nellie Sweetwood; her husband, Thomas W. Hatfield; an infant brother, Curtis; brother, Kenneth; son, Dennis Hatfield.

She is survived by her brother, Leland Sweetwood and wife Nancy of Arkansas City, Kan.; sister-in-law Glenda Sweetwood of Enid; and a niece and nephews.

The family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital 4th Floor staff and Garland Road Nursing Home for their love and care shown to Marcella.
