James W. Haskins

James W. Haskins, 69, 1728 E. Maine, died Friday morning in a local nursing home after a period of ill health. He was born June 10, 1906, in Martin, Tennessee, and came to Enid in 1927.

Haskins was employed by Palecek Mills for 15 years before retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Oddfellow Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Songer and Kay Springsted, both of Wichita, Kansas; a son, Larry Haskins, Mt. Home, Arkansas; a step – sister, Mrs. Cyral Jolley of Enid; three sisters, Mrs. Willie T. Jackson of Nashville, Tennessee, Mary Thompson and Mrs. Maycil Morton both of Memphis, Tennessee; six grandchildren. His wife, the former Emily Palecek, died in 1969.

Funeral rites for Haskins will be at 2 PM Sunday in the Chapel of the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home with the Reverend Lloyd Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
