David B. Hickens
July 8, 1955 - May 10, 2022

David was born on July 8, 1955, in Enid, OK, the son of Donald L. Hickens and Bonnie Ruth (Boatwright) Hickens and died May 10, 2022, in Houston, TX. Following cremation in Houston, TX, interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK.

David graduated from Enid High School in May 1973. He then graduated with a B.S. in Laboratory Technology from the University of Oklahoma in 1977 and an M.S. in Medical Diagnostics from the University of Houston, TX. He graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law, J.D., in 1991. David spent 29 years working for the federal government, culminating in his final position as the Chief of the Environmental Affairs Office at NASA Johnson Space Center, which is the position he held at the date of his death.

David enjoyed travel and sightseeing, both domestic and international. He was an avid skier, spending many weeks on the slopes in Colorado and New Mexico. Time with family and friends was important to David, and he often shared his passion for travel and skiing by sharing trips and lift tickets with those he was close to.

Survivors include his sister Susan Beatty of Wichita, KS; brother Larry Hickens of Maryville, TN; one nephew, Alan Skrapke of Enid, OK; two nieces, Angela Shackelford of Charlottesville, VA, and Gillian Hickens of Chattanooga, TN, and numerous other family members. David was preceded in death by his parents.
