A graveside service for Johnny Roy Herrian, 90, of Waukomis, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Garden Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Lee will officiate. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 22, 1917, in Bison to Earl and Adelle Herrian and died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008.

He served during World War II from 1941 to 1945 with the 45th Infantry Division EAME (European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign). He received the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, EAME Bronze Service and Silver Star, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award and Honorable Service Button. He was a member of Company L, 180th Infantry, and fought in Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Southern France, Rome-Arno, Rhineland and Central European battles.

He was a rural route mail carrier in Bison for 30 years and was an active member and officer of Waukomis Lions Club.

Surviving are his wife Marie Herrian, of Waukomis; two daughters, Helen Morris-Klecher of Marlton, N.J., and Darla Jo Goodwin of Las Vegas; one son, Jack Herrian of Bison; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and a grandson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Ross Hospice or Waukomis United Methodist Church.
