KENNETH LEE HEIM
October 24, 1929 - October 2, 2023
Kenneth L. Heim entered heaven on October 2, 2023. He was born October 24, 1929 on a farm southeast of Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Arthur and Laura (Schweer) Heim. He was baptized as member of God's family on November 3, 1929 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Enid. Kenneth grew up in the Fairmont, Oklahoma area, attending eight years of Lutheran Parochial School in Fairmont and confirmed his faith April 2, 1944. After graduating Garber High School in 1948, Kenneth served during the Korean War Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Following his discharge from the United States Army, he began his thirteen-year employment with Hackney Welding Supply. He then worked for TCI cable company from 1966 to 1989.
Kenneth married the love of his life, Eva Belle Kurtz, on August 9, 1953, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Enid, OK, and they continued their love story for almost 69 years with faith, family and friends as the foundation for their marriage. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Teresa Caraway, PhD and Michelle Fox, RN. Kenneth was a "girl dad" ahead of his time. From playing in the backyard every evening after work, to father-daughter box dinners and dances to coaching his girls in softball, he invested in their lives to equip them to lead a life of service to others.
Following Kenneth's retirement from TCI in 1989, he and Eva added to their grand love story by hitting the road and traveling in their motor home for 15 years. They enjoyed traveling across the US, meeting new friends and sharing grand adventures.
Driven by faith, the Lutheran Church was an important part of Kenneth's life serving in various leadership roles through the years including Trustee, Elder, Vice-President of the Congregation, Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary, and Usher.
Kenneth lived a life of love and commitment exemplified by the fact he never removed his wedding band from the day he and Eva were married. A gentle giant, known for his quick wit and warm smile, he leaves a grand legacy. Kenneth is survived by daughters Teresa of Houston, TX and Michelle and husband Louis of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK; Carson and wife Christa and children Drew, Wynn and Laine of Houston, TX; Carrington and husband Blake of Pryor, OK; Kensley and daughter Finley of Tulsa, OK; and Holton and wife Sheridan and daughter Evie of Tahlequah, OK; sister-in-law Jan and her husband Don of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Eva, parents, and sisters Twila Sohl and husband Walter, and Margie Postier and husband John.
Kenneth's family wishes to thank Elaine, Anita, Allen, Frances, the many other caregivers at Miller Hospice as well as Carla and her staff from UMatter Homecare. We are deeply grateful for your ministry to Dad.
A celebration of life service will be held October 23, 2023 at 11:00 am in Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, 3002 N Van Buren Street Enid, OK 73703 with Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to The Meyer C. and Ida Miller Hospice or the charity of your choice with Anderson-Burris serving as custodian of the funds.
