Clarence Fred Frickenschmidt, age 79, passed away peacefully from this life at his farm, southeast of Enid, on July 25, 2005. Clarence knew that when he went to sleep on earth, he would wake in the presence of his savior. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2005. Pastor Tom Donaldson will preside. A family and friends visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Bethlehem Baptist Church, southeast of Enid.

Clarence attended school at Skeleton Valley, Fairmont and Pioneer. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont. After entering the Army in 1944, Clarence served in the 1st Infantry Division (known as the Big Red One), seeing action across the Rhineland and Central Europe. Upon his return from the war, Clarence resumed his life of farming and ranching. He loved caring for cattle, seeing crops grow, attending cattle sales, and holding his great-grandchildren. Clarence was a loving and generous father who was known to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Paw-Paw.

Clarence married Helen Dye of Enid on November 20, 1948 and is survived by his only son, Mike and wife Brenda Frickenschmidt of Enid; grandson Tim and wife Elissa Frickenschmidt of St. Louis; granddaughter Heather and husband Lars Lunsford of Enid; great-grandchildren Jake and Gage Frickenschmidt and Annika Lunsford; and his sister Erna and husband Danny Smith of Vici, OK.
