She was born in Ardmore, OK, to Joshua Harper and Leila Darby Jeffries Smither on August 28, 1912, and died peacefully in her home on March 8, 2013.

She is survived by daughter Maudean Gustafson and husband Larry of Lincoln, NE; four granddaughters: Cheryl Roberts of Apple Valley, MN; Jill Machacek and husband Rod of Lincoln, NE, Amy Traynor and husband Dan of Houston, TX, and Emily Hladik and husband Todd of Washington, DC; nine great-grandchildren: Brian Roberts, Kelly Machacek, Kristen Machacek, Noah Hladik, Craig Roberts, Liam Traynor, Anna Hladik, Olivia Virginia Traynor and Virginia Grace Hladik; two nephews, Jack Smither and family of Dallas, TX, and Don Roberts and family of Clipper Mills, CA; and dear friend and cousin Burney Smither, Enid.
