A memorial service celebrating the life of Alvena Franke, 86, Enid, is 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gail Edmison officiating. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Alvena was born September 16, 1931, in Garber to Walter and Clara (Hladik) Oberlender, and passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, in Enid. Alvena grew up Garber, graduated from Garber High School in 1949, and then attended Enid Business College. She worked as a secretary for Champlain Refinery. On January 15, 1954, she married Walter Franke in Enid, where they made their home and raised their daughter. In 1985 they retired and moved to Salt Plains. Later, she returned to Enid. Alvena was a member of the Nescatunga Rural Fire Department, and the Vining Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Walter.

Alvena is survived by her daughter Kim Salladay of Enid; and her grandson Clayton Joslin of Tulsa; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
