Allen Ralph Fluharty, resident of Ponca City, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Ponca City Nursing Home. He was 96. The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Central Baptist Church. The Rev. John Waterloo, pastor, will officiate. Internment will be 2 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Okla-homa. Arrangements are under direction of Trout Funeral Home & Cre-matory, Ponca City.

Allen was born April 2, 1916, to Samual Fluharty and Elizabeth (Riggle) Fluharty in Folsom, West Virginia. He moved from Folsom, West Virginia, at the age 11 and was raised in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

He married Terreca Davidson October 1, 1940, in Enid, Oklahoma. They celebrated 57 years together before she preceded him in death in 1998. He worked as a supervisor for Champlin Petroleum Company in Enid, Oklahoma, for 28 years before retiring in 1978.

He served 42 months in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Post 4 in Enid, Oklahoma, and YMCA in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and was a former member for 47 years of Bible Baptist Church of Enid, Oklahoma. He was considered a great hero of modern-day faith.

He served the Lord with gladness and faithfulness. When he came to Central Baptist Church he became a user and greeter, everyone enjoyed seeing him. His aging body became a testament of his great faithfulness to the Lord. He attended every service until he was physically not able to attend. However, even years after his health decline, our members would talk about his faithfulness. His spirit of faith was and will be an example to us all. In a world of fly-by-night Christianity, here stood a man who lived what he believed and helped us all to see what a true Christianity was all about.

He is survived by his niece, Cynthia Riley of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Susan Reusser of Wichita, Kansas; and many other nieces and nephews and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Terreca Fluharty; his parents, Samual and Elizabeth (Riggle) Fluharty; one brother, Ross Fluharty; one sister, Mary Shawver; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Shawver; and one sister-in-law, Arlene Fluharty.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 1732 East Coleman Road, Ponca City, OK 74604.
