October 1, 1930 - November 17, 2020

A Celebration of Life service for Helen L. Fischer, age 90, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont with Rev. Mark Blakeman and Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen was born Oct. 1, 1930, to John and Marie Breitenkamp, and was raised on the family homestead south of Breckenridge, Okla. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Breckenridge, and attended Immanuel Lutheran school through eighth grade. She graduated from Garber High School in 1948.

On Feb. 21, 1953, Helen married Lorence R. Fischer, Sr., in Lawton, Okla. Her uncle Rev. Henry Heitfeld officiated the ceremony. Lorence and Helen made their first home in Enid, but with Lorence in the Air Force, they lived many places over the next several years, including Alexandria, La., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Oscoda and Alpena, Mich. After Lorence's discharge from the Air Force in 1965, they made Fairmont their home.

Helen's early years of employment included Red Apple Café, H.A. Marr Wholesale Grocery as a candy factory worker and McClellan's Five & Dime store. She is remembered most, however, as a J.C Penney catalog clerk for 14 years, retiring in 1993.

Helen enjoyed life to the fullest and brought joy to all she came in contact with. She was rarely without a smile. Her hobbies included baking, working in her flower gardens, traveling, and photography. She was active in choir at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, and loved to help with Vacation Bible School and other activities.

She is survived by her four children: Jay and wife Pam of Wichita, Kan.; Lorence Jr. and wife Jacky of Aline, Okla.; Bruce of Fairmont, Okla.; and daughter Ann Brown of Broken Arrow, Okla. Others who will miss her dearly include 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Marie Breitenkamp, daughter Sheryl Breitenkamp, husband Lorence, two sisters, Hildegaard Loux and Velma Cummings, and three brothers, Arnold Breitenkamp, Edwin Breitenkamp, and Wilbur Breitenkamp.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
