On Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, it pleased the Almighty God to summon to Himself the soul of Amanda (Weber) Fields, having attained the age of 104.

Amanda was born Feb. 12, 1911, on Turkey Creek southwest of Waukomis, Okla., the daughter of Harry and Tillie (Stechman) Weber.

She attended Liberty and Morning Star Country schools, Waukomis High School and Northwestern State Teachers College in Alva, Okla., where she obtained her teaching certificate.

She taught in several one-room, country schools to include Turkey Creek School, which is now a part of Humphrey Heritage Village.

On May 14, 1937, she married Carl Fields. They were married 64 years until Carl’s death in 2001.

Amanda was Carl’s No. 1 helper in the farming operation and she also worked for many Enid families.

Amanda was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Drummond, where she was very active as a teacher, youth director and member of UMW and many committees. Presently she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Enid.

Amanda made many beautiful crocheted items to include wonderful baby blankets and took pride in her cooking skills, loved gardening and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Those who will carry on her memory are daughters, Retha Cady of Enid, and her dedicated care-giver and daughter, Charlene Fields of the home, as well as her nieces and nephews, a host of friends and neighbors.

Going home service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. The Rev. Vernon Lee and Tom McCreight, her former youth fellowship members, will conduct her service with special music by Charles Dean Henneke. Private burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Amanda walked with Jesus every day here on earth and today she is in the heavenly, awesome presence of Jesus.

Condolences may be made to the family at www.Brown-Cummings.com.
