TULSA — Funeral for Essie Fentress, 97, of Tulsa, formerly of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson - Burris Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Essie was born to Ernest and Clara Mae (Berry) Watson, on April 9, 1914, in Huntsville, Ark., and died on Friday, April 15, 2011, in Tulsa.

Essie married Euhl Ray Fentress April 12, 1921, in Anadarko, and they made their home in Enid, where she lived for more than 60 years as a homemaker.

In 1994, she moved to Meadow Points Apartments until November 2008, when she moved to Tulsa.

As a devout Christian, she was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene, and provided loving care to family and friends. She will long be remembered for her sense of humor and love of laughter. The family wished to thank special friend Sandra Dierksen for her love and care of Essie.

Essie is survived by children Donna (Robert) Hessel of Fairlawn, Ohio, Carl Fentress and Robyn (Don) Williams, both of Tulsa; four grandchildren, Scott, Sherri, Caitlyn and Cody; eight great-grandchildren, Allison, Jessica, Megan, Hannah, Evin, Kenny, Abby and R.J.; and one sister, Jesse Larson of Hayden Lake, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her husband Euhl Fentress, parents Clara and Ernest Watson, two brothers and five sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Church of the Nazarene.
