Avis Jewel Forbes
December 25, 1933 - March 31, 2023

Funeral service for Avis Forbes, 89, of Enid, will be Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in Anderson-Burris Chapel, with Reverends James Harvey and Kim Domnick officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home.

Avis was born December 25, 1933, in Buffalo, Oklahoma, to Clifton and Evelyn (Smith) Fleming and died on March 31, 2023, in Enid, with her family by her side.

She grew up in Buffalo and graduated from Buffalo High School. On January 12, 1954, Avis married Joe Forbes in the First Christian Church in Buffalo. Avis went to beauty college and was a licensed cosmetologist in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. She went to Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Avis was an administration secretary for Chisholm Schools. She was a member of Kremlin United Methodist Church, Kremlin Home Culture H.C.E., American Legion Auxiliary, Garfield County Republican Women and Garfield County Retired Educators.

She was preceded in death by husband Joe and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters and husbands, Leah and Gary Cunningham and Jody and Roger Boevers; three grandsons and their wives, Brent and Callie Boevers, Clayton and Ashlee Cunningham, and Luke and Emily Boevers; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Talon and Taytum; other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Kremlin Methodist Church. Condolences may be made online at www.andersonburris.com.
