Ronald L. Diener, age 58, of Enid, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, in the Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City, following complications of open heart surgery. He was born Aug. 12, 1947, to Monte and Maxine Corbett Diener, in Enid. He attended the Enid school system and graduated from Enid High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a Marine corpsman.
He married Sheila Marler April 26, 1969. Ronald worked at Champlin Refinery Co. until 1984, when he transferred to Vance AFB. He worked there for 22 years and was Inspection Chief and in September 2001, he became the Fire Chief. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Lodge No. 80. At Christmas time he collected do-nations for the children’s shelter.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; a son, Chris and wife, Jennifer; three grandchildren, Christina, Amber and Meghan; three brothers, Scott of New Zealand, Dennis of Stillwater, and Nick of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Brenda Diener of Derby, Kan.; his mother and stepfather, Maxcyne and Jim Yell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Monte Diener, and his grandparents. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Tinker Air Force Base Chaplain, Mike Tuley, will officiate. The casket will be open until the time of the service. Memorials maybe made to the SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
