Willa Dean Jennings was born November 5, 1930, in Scammon, Kansas, to Raymond and Hannah Hodgson Jennings and died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Her parents moved to Chicago, Illinois, shortly after her birth. She attended school in Chicago and graduated from Murray F. Tuley High School in 1948. In 1950, she moved to Oklahoma with her mother and stepfather, Joe Lewandowski.

On September 10, 1951, she married Carl Marion Dowers. To this union five children were born: Randy, Todd, Patricia, Timothy and Lori.

Willa graduated from Autry Technology Center as a certified nurse aide in 1972. She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital, a job she was passionate about, for 24 years.

Willa was a member of Enid Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was active in the church, including being a deaconess while her health allowed. Willa enjoyed traveling, shopping and baking her famous pumpkin bread and brownies. Willa loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Willa is survived by son Randy of Arling, Texas, special son Todd of the home, and son Timothy and wife Jo Lynn; daughter Lori Dowers of Enid; and son-in-law Craig Stokes. She has seven grandchildren: Jeramie and Ben Dowers, Sarah Rivera, Melissa and Christopher Stokes, Cory and Andrew Dowers, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Hannah Jennings, and stepfather, Joe Lewandowski; her beloved husband of 49 years, Carl Marion Dowers; brother, Raymond Jennings; sister, Margaret Ann; and her lovely daughter, Patricia Stokes.

Memorial contributions may be made through Anderson-Burris Funeral Home to go toward care of her loving son, Todd Dowers. Guestbook available at www.andersonburris.com.
