Marjorie CASTEEL DONNELL
Enid News and Eagle
Enid, Garfield Co., OK

Submitted by: Jo Aguirre

A funeral service for Marjorie Ann Collier Casteel Donnell, 73, of Stillwater formerly of Enid, will be Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the North Garland Church of Christ with Kent Houck officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Marjorie was born on November 27, 1936 in Aline, Okla. to John Dwight and Edna Crawford Collier and died on Nov. 17, 2010 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Margie was the fifth child of John and Edna Collier. Her siblings were Lena, Eldon, Leo Wayne, Eula, and Wilma. Like her siblings she was born at home on the family farm near Aline. There were lots of animals, dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, and cows. Her father encouraged her curiosity and love of nature. She loved to climb trees, swim, fish and ride her bike. She once operated on a wounded toad, we think it survived! Growing up on the farm with no close neighbors, her siblings and cousins were her best friends. Her little sister, Wilma was her playmate. They played with the dogs on the farm and had dozens of dolls, caring for them like they were real babies. At family gatherings, Margie and her cousins, Stella Mae, Pauline, Donnie, Robert and Roger were best buddies, and little sister was ignored.

The family moved to Enid in 1946. Margie had a love for art at an early age. When she was about 10, her mama and daddy gave her a set of oil paints, inspiring her to pursue her talent. One particular high school art teacher recognized Margie's artistic abilities and encouraged her to continue. Later in life, she took up watercolor and entered juried art shows. She graduated from Enid High School in 1956. Margie was independent and strong and a hard worker. She worked in data entry at Champlin and Vance Air Force Base as a supervisor. Later, she worked at Northwest Oklahoma Blood Institute. Margie just loved life and life's experiences. She liked to dance, dine out, and travel to the Gulf to fish with her husband, Jon. She was pretty and smart and loved to dress up. Her green thumb was legendary. Her gardens were always beautiful. She loved "Dancing with the Stars!"

Margie, your free spirit and love of life was infectious. Heaven must have needed another artist. Thank you for all the good memories. We love you and we'll truly miss you. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Jon; two sisters, Lena Myers and Eula Wolff; two brothers, Leo Wayne Collier and Eldon Collier. She is survived by daughter, Jacque (Max) Scott of Independence, Kan.; son, Steve Casteel (Melinda) of Stillwater; sister, Wilma Rayner (John) of Nash; four grandsons, Tyler and Derick Scott, Jake and Zac Casteel; two great grandchildren, Serena and Aiden Scott; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
