A Celebration of Life Service for Amelia Bernice Dodds, 91, Enid, is 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at the Golden Oaks Retirement Village Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Weston officiating. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Amelia was born March 26, 1925, in Enid to O.T. and Hazel (Warnaca) Hirst, and passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, in Enid. She attended Enid Public Schools, graduating in 1944. She then married her high school sweetheart, DuWaine Dodds, on July 6, 1944. Shortly after they were married, DuWaine went to serve his country in the United States Army during WWII. During his absence, she worked in several local dress shops. Upon DuWaine's return from the war, they started their family, raising three sons and a daughter on the family farm. She and DuWaine were partners in the Massey Ferguson Dealership, where they worked side by side together. They were long time members of Emmanuel Baptist Church. They enjoyed many activities together, including bowling, and were members of the Roadrunner's Square Dancing Club.

She loved Phillips University Basketball and was a big fan of the OKC Thunder. Amelia loved watching John Wayne movies and listening to Elvis Presley, Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, DuWaine Dodds; brother, J. W. Hirst; a sister, Catherine Nelson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Amelia is survived by four children, Steven Dodds and wife, Alloette, of Plover, Wis.; Gary Dodds, of Enid; Richard Dodds and wife, Karen, of Edmond; Cheryl Graham and husband, Danny, of Edmond; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-granchildren; a sister, Edith Sloan and husband, Don, of Enid; and brother-in-law, Roger Pickett and wife, Glenna, of Sand Springs.
