A graveside service for Dale Dixon, 82, of McAlester, will be 2 p.m. Monday in Garden Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Hattie, Ark., to Herschel and Betty Dixon and died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, in McAlester.

He joined the Marines May 14, 1943, and was wounded at Iwo Jima Feb. 24, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged Dec. 19, 1945. He worked for Northrop at Vance Air Force Base in the quality control department, and later worked as a superintendent at Northstar retiring in 1965. He married Evelyn Ray July 15, 1977, in Enid. She died Aug. 21, 1999.

Surviving are one son, Don Dixon of McAlester; one daughter, Dalena Newell of Ashflat, Ark.; one brother, Floyd Dixon of San Diego; two sisters, Marie Richards of Burke, Va., and Irene Beltz of Willow Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
