ENID, OK — Funeral service for Charlene L. Dellinger will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dave Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Charlene was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Bushong, Kan., to Charles and Maggie (Hodgson) Hill. She passed on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Arbor House in Mustang, Okla.

When she was four-years-old, her mother married her beloved stepfather, Bryan West, in Pond Creek, Okla. She grew up there, graduating from Pond Creek High School. She later attended and graduated from Enid Business College.

During the early years of WWII, she went to California and worked in the shipyards as a riveter.

On Aug. 23, 1944, Charlene married Charles Dellinger in Enid.

She worked at Midwestern Life Insurance Company in Enid for over 30 years, retiring as assistant vice president. After retirement, she volunteered at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for 30 years, until moving to Arbor House Assisted Living Center in Mustang.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; sister, Thelma Steiger; stepson, Terry Dellinger; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Charlene is survived by son, Larry Dellinger and wife Bonnie of Mustang; daughter, Sherry Murray and husband Gary of Topeka, Kan.; grandsons, Bryan Dellinger and wife Trina of Mustang, Clint Dellinger and wife Sheryl of Norman and Terry Murray of Topeka, Kan.; granddaughter, Amy Hightower and husband Gary of Mustang; two great-grandsons, Colt and Landon; great-great-granddaughter, Alexandrea; and brothers, Don West and Lawrence West.

Charlene’s family is very appreciative for the love and care given to her during her stay at Arbor House and by Crossroads Hospice. She was treated as though she were a part of their family.

Memorials in her name can be given through the funeral home to St. Mary’s Volunteers.
