The funeral service for Richard L. Daugherty will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel, 601 W. Broadway Enid, Okla.

The Rev. Gary Miller will officiate. A private family committal will precede the service in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Richard Lee Daugherty, 74, Enid, quietly passed away Nov. 8, 2015, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born June 24, 1941, in Sardis.

He married Mary Wolfe in 1963 and they were together until her death in 1993.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee M. “Son” and Emma Lee; his wife, Mary; and his son, Brandon. He is survived by his sisters, Betty and “Lou,” his brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Holly; his son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Cecilia; his daughter, Shannon; and his grandchildren, Cale, Connor, Lane, Hannah, and Noah. He also is survived by beloved nieces and nephews and many devoted friends, as well as his longtime, loving companion, Karen.

Richard graduated from Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City in 1959, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball.

Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego from 1961-63.

After many years with Cain’s Coffee in Oklahoma City, he started Richard’s Coffee Service in Enid in 1975.

He operated this successful family business for 26 years and opened the first gourmet coffee shops in Enid in 1995.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling to Costa Rica, and being with his family.

He was a longtime member of the Grand National Quail Club, Elks Club, and Enid Chamber of Commerce.

He led a life of fun and adventures with a close-knit group of friends.

Affectionately known as “Papa Rich” to all, Richard was an avid OU football fan and shared many happy times watching sports and sharing meals with his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

He was quick-witted, just a “little” mischievous, and loved music.

He lived through many challenges and was a true fighter to the end.

Richard’s family would like to acknowledge the many loving caretakers and neighbors who went above and beyond to treat Richard like family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Quality Care in Oklahoma City through Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
