Tuesday, September 26th, 1944 - Tuesday, September 26th, 2023

A Celebration of Life for Robert L. Diel, age 79, from Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, October 2, 2023 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial, with honors provided by the Enid Fire Department, will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Robert was born September 26, 1944 in Enid to Alexander and Sylvia (Mohlenbrink) Diel, and passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at his home in Enid.

Robert graduated from Garber High School in 1962. He married Jane Eggers on October 26, 1963 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Oklahoma. They made their home in Enid where they raised their daughter, Lori. He served on the Enid Fire Department for 25 years, retiring with the rank of Captain. He also owned and operated Robert Diel Electric. He was involved with the SPADS R/C Club where he built and flew remote control airplanes. He owned two hot rods which he enjoyed building and restoring. Many years were spent traveling extensively with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruby Kelley; two nephews; a niece; a great-niece; four brothers-in-law; and Clarence and Lilly Eggers, his father and mother-in-law. He is survived by Jane Diel, his wife of 60 years, of the home in Enid; one daughter, Lori Herrell and husband Dan, of Fairmont; sister, Anita Showalter, of Garber; two nieces, Kim Nakvinda and husband Chris, of Ringwood; Pam Shiplett and husband Darrin, of Richland, MO; two nephews, Donnie Showalter and wife Charise, of Guthrie; and Doug Showalter and wife Tamie, of Enid; as well as numerous great, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to Elara Caring Hospice or the charity of choice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
