1925 - 2010

Jack Carl Bengtson passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on June 30, 2010 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 84. Jack was born 11/28/1925 on a farm called Gobblers Nob outside of Hillsdale, Oklahoma. From 1944 to1946 Jack served his country in the Navy. He attended Phillips University and Oklahoma A & M and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science. Jack worked for Halliburton, Corelab, and Gulf Oil Company as a geologist for 33 years with 22 of those years living overseas. Jack met his wife Norma while visiting family in Oklahoma and they married on 10/31/1952 after a six-week courtship. Jack vacationed in Colorado throughout his life and moved to Colorado Springs after retiring from Gulf Oil Company in 1983. He spent his retirement playing the stock market, fishing and traveling.

His parents Carl and Vivian Bengtson, and his siblings Bud Bengtson and Joanne Lord preceded Jack in death. He is survived by, Norma, his wife of 57 years, daughter Claudia Bengtson, son Frank Bengtson and wife Lisa of Houston, TX, daughter Karen Douglas and husband Don of Colorado Springs, CO, granddaughter Audrey Partridge and husband Preston, great-granddaughters Lorelei and Magdelan of Redondo Beach, CA, grandsons FN Graham Douglas, USN of Charleston, SC and Ian Douglas of Colorado Springs, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.

The most important accomplishment of his life was to be a responsible, loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend.

The funeral service will be on July 5, 2010 at 10:00 am in Enid, Oklahoma at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral home. Rev Velmer Goebel will officiate. Internment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid Oklahoma. The family will also have a memorial gathering at Jacks home in Colorado Springs, CO on Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 2-4 pm.
