Funeral services for Charles B. Athey, 47, who died early Friday morning at his home at 2541 Homestead, will be at 10 AM Monday in St. Mathews Episcopal Church with the Rev. Barney Jackson officiating.

Athey will be buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Athey was born and grew up in Enid, graduating from Enid high school in 1951. He received his bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1955, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

After graduation, Athey returned to Enid to work at Security National Bank. His family has had controlling interest of the bank since 1927.

Athey became assistant cashier December 31, 1957. He was made Executive Vice President May 24, 1959. On April 19, 1970, Athey succeeded Irving A. Beall as President and Chief Executive Officer following the latter's death April 19, 1970.

Athey served in this capacity until resigning May 8, 1979, to take care of his own business investments.

He was a member of the St. Mathews Episcopal Church, a past director of the Community Chest and Enid Chamber of Commerce. An ardent sportsman, Athey was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Grand National Quail Hunt. Since his retirement, he had also pursued his art interests.

Survivors include his wife Joan of the home; two daughters, Andrea Athey, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Jane Athey, Dallas, Texas; a son, Mike Athey of Dallas; a step son, Doug Robinson of Enid; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Cam Randolph of Enid and a brother, Bill Athey, Enid. His father, George W. Athey died May 12, 1959.
