Funeral services for Opal Irene Anderson, 93 of Enid will be 2 PM Tuesday in the Ladusau – Evans Chapel with Rev. Ralph Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

She was born July 19, 1900 to Magnolia (Cannon) and John Bradley Neal in a sod house on property claimed during the land run of 1893 six miles south of Helena in Oklahoma Territory.

In 1911 to 1917 Opal and her brother and sister went to live at the I00F Children's Home in Carmen after the death of their mother.

Opal graduated from Enid high in 1918 and attended Enid Business College.

She married Robert Gun Anderson on June 12, 1921 in Enid, and he preceded her in death in July 1968. Opal was the last living charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Argonne Unit #4 of Enid and was active for 73 years before health prevented further activities. She was a member of Eastern Star Neal Chapter #453, the Rebecca Lodge, and the First Presbyterian Church of Enid. Opal worked for Rhinehart Plumbing, later Craig and Pierce Plumbing before retiring in 1961.

Opal is survived by a daughter, Glenna L. Stoner, Enid, a granddaughter, Mrs. James (Sandra) Hanson, Waukomis, step – granddaughter Nancy (Anderson) Richards, Austin, Texas, six great – grandchildren, five great – great – grandchildren, a sister Wynona Springer, Glendale, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, a son Richard T. Anderson, infant brother Vester Daryl Neal, brother Clifford T. Neal, a step – son Max Anderson and a son – in – law Lee A. Stoner.
