Robert Arlien Alwert

The funeral service for Robert Alwert, age 82, will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Tim Dorsch and Rev. Thomas House officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Robert was born to Delbert Arlien and Sylvia (Helberg) Alwert on June 11, 1933 in Enid, and passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 in Enid.

Robert grew up in Fairmont, where he attended school and then graduated from Garber High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Scotland, where he was with the United States Signal Corp. for four years. Robert then attended O.S.U. in Okmulgee, graduating with an Engineering and Land Surveying Degree. In April, 1959, he married Loretta Fife and they moved to Enid. Robert worked for the City of Enid as a Certified Land Surveyor/Engineer from 1959-1994. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and Elder. He was member and served as President of Enid Inter-Tribal Indian Club for several years. Robert was Garfield County turkey-calling champion, and volunteered for RSVP, Vacation Bible School, Meals on Wheels, and AAL. He volunteered and donated to Thewarle Indian Baptist Church. Robert was a member of Buck and Bow Club and American Legion. He loved to hunt and fish, and had a lifetime hunting/fishing license. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He played baseball through high school and on a traveling team in Scotland, and played softball until the age of 57. There was no sport that he didn’t enjoy.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta; children: Melony and Stacy Wolfe of Centerton, Arkansas, and Canuky Arlien and Melissa Alwert of Owasso; eight grandchildren: Shay Still, Ben and Lauren Still, Tara and Tylor Lee, Timothy Still, Shaphan, Mikaela, Hannah, and Elijah Alwert; sister Moonene Blaser of Enid; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Don and Kent Alwert, and infant daughter Laura Alwert.

Memorials are to Redeemer Lutheran Youth Group, Camp Lutherhoma, or OMRF – Cancer Division.

December 7, 1935 - March 4, 2021

Funeral services for Loretta Faye Alwert, 85, of Enid, will be Monday, March 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Reverend Dwayne Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Anderson-Burris.

Loretta was born on December 7, 1935, in Dustin, Oklahoma, to Taylor and Dollie (King) Fife and died on March 4, 2021, in Bentonville, Arkansas.

She went to Graham Grade School and graduated from Chilocco Indian School. Loretta received an associate's degree in business from Haskell Institute. On April 25, 1959, she married Robert Alwert in Enid, where they made their home. Loretta was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was an active volunteer and choir member. She was a member of Enid Intertribal Club, Native American Education, ABWA. Loretta volunteered at NODA, meals on wheels, Methodist Home Devotion, and various other organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alwert; daughter Laura Alwert; parents, Taylor and Dollie Fife; sisters, Helen Jojola, Betty Mouser, Geraldine Wolf nephew, John Wolf.

Loretta is survived by her children and their spouses, Melony and Stacy Wolfe and Canuky and Melissa Alwert; 8 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
