Funeral services for J. Kenneth Allison, age 85 of Enid, will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at 2 PM at Oakwood Christian Church with longtime friend Dr. Joe Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic service graveside rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born July 24, 1914, to Marvin and Winnie McMillen Allison in Silverdale, Kansas and went to be with his heavenly father May 28, 2000, after a period of ill health.

He grew up and attended school in Silverdale. He married Virginia Huston at Arkansas City, Kansas May 13, 1949. He worked for Rodeo Meat Company in Arkansas city and farmed. They moved to Enid in 1950 and, along with his cousin, foundedt their business, Western Oklahoma Hide and Wool, in Garber. They moved the business to Enid in 1961 and renamed it Enid Iron and Metal. They mamaged the business until their retirement in 1984.

Kenneth was baptized into the Lord at Davis Park Christian Church where he served as Deacon, Pulpit Supply Committee and youth sponsor for Junior High and Senior High Youth. He and Virginia, along with a small nucleus of members, with blessings of Davis Park, helped build and establish Oakwood Christian Church. They became Charter Members in 1978 where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and on the building committee. He was a 32nd Degree Mason belonging to the Enid Lodge 501 and Guthrie consistory.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his cousin and business partner, Jack Allison. He is survived by his wife Virginia; one son Rick and wife Linda Allison, Enid; three grandchildren, Angela, Dustin, and Rikki; one step granddaughter Crissy and one step grandson Michael; four great-grandchildren; his brother Ralph and sister – in – law Ann Allison of Langdon, Kansas.

He loved his family, his church, his work and his friends.

Memorials may be made to Oakwood Christian Church Sanctuary Redecorating Fund with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodians.
