Memorial Park Cemetery


The funeral for Hugh H. Allen, 87, will be at 3 PM Monday in the Chapel of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary McCormick of Central Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born November 4, 1910, in Hillsdale to John J. And Minnie Belle Wamsley Allen and died Thursday, January 22, 1998, at his home.

He graduated from Enid High School and worked for the Enid News and Eagle before joining George E. Failing Company on a seismograph crew, searching for oil in Venezuela.

During World War I I, he joined the Navy Seabees, serving in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he returned to Venezuela prospecting for iron ore for Bethlehem Steel.

On June 16, 1961, he married Mildred Cole.

They lived in Enid. He worked for Henninger – Allen Funeral Home, retiring in 1977.

He was a member of Central Christian Church, American Legion, and the VFW.

Surviving are one nephew, John Allen of Enid; and one niece, Ann Robinson of Nashville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church.
