The funeral for Nona Alexander, 86, will be at 10 AM Friday at the North Garland Road Church of Christ. The Rev. Terry Butler will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

She was born March 13, 1908, near Ames to Martin and Ellen VanMeter Detrick and died Tuesday, August 9, 1994, at the Methodist Nursing Home in Enid.

She completed grade school at Union Center School, north of Ames, and graduated from Ames high school in 1926. She obtained her teacher certificate from Northwestern Oklahoma State Teacher's College, Alva, and taught grades one through eight for two years at Forest Home School, north of Ames.

On June 19, 1929, she married Clinton Alexander. He died in 1977. They farmed in the Ames and Amorita communities for many years before moving to Enid in 1962.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth of Enid; one brother, Fred Detrick of Ames; two sisters, Ruth Rouse of Wichita, Kansas, and Elsie McCracken of Tulsa; one granddaughter; and one great – granddaughter.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Bible Chair.
