Death: Apr. 6, 1974

Orville P. Akin, 65, 2924 W. Randolph, died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital after several months illness.

He was born June 5, 1908 in Benton County, Mississippi, but lived in Enid most of his life. He was self – employed as a trucker but retired a year ago because of ill health.

His funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM Wednesday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Chapel with Dr. T. Hollis Epton and Rev. C. T. Aly officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Akin is survived by his wife Leola of the home; one daughter, Orvella Drummond of Enid; one son, Hollis Akin, Kennewick, Washington; two step – sons, Gilbert Darbro, Simi, California, and Charles Darbro, Dumas, Texas; one step daughter, Margie Layne, Chatsworth, California; 12 grandchildren; five great – grandchildren; five sisters, Geneva Reed, Memphis, Tennessee, Bobbie James, Memphis, Lillian McKee, Saulsbury, Tennessee, Addie, Middleton, Tennessee and Myracle, Holly Springs.
