Funeral service for Sue Miriam (Sabbagh) Aboud, 81, of Edmond, Okla., formerly of Enid, Okla., will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Enid. The Rev. Wade Burleson will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight, March 11, at the funeral Home. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Sue Miriam (Sabbagh) Aboud, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, joined her Heavenly Father on Monday, March 9, 2015.

Sue was born in Quneitra, Syria, in 1933, to Farris and Hannah Sabbagh as one of nine children.

At the age of 22, she was given an opportunity to come to the United States. Although she had not traveled farther than 50 miles from home, she took the journey alone. Upon her arrival to the U.S. in 1955, she began attending 4th grade at Garfield Grade School. In the next two years she completed junior high, high school and business college.

While attending Grand Canyon Business College in Arizona, she met her future husband, John Aboud. They married in Enid and settled in Scottsdale, Ariz., where their four children were born. In 1967, they moved to Enid. In 2010, she moved to Edmond to live with her son David and daughter Susan.

In the years following their move to Enid, Sue dedicated herself to her family and raising her four children. Sue and John worked tirelessly to provide the same opportunity she had by sponsoring many of her family members, still living in Syria to come to the U.S.

In 1975, she began work at Maxwell Pancake House, where she quickly became the iconic hostess. She welcomed everyone as warmly as if she were welcoming them to her own home.

Sue was known for her fun loving, generous and bubbly personality; she was always the life of the party. To know Sue was to love her.

She is survived by her sister, Mintaha; her loving children, John Michael Aboud and his wife Felice and their daughters, Hannah and Sarah; daughter, Susan Athey and her sons, Andrew and Matthew; son, David and his son Raney and daughter Freda Jo and her puppies; and Gunner the family dog.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, John Moses Aboud; sisters, Nassima, Nahi, Lourice, Jospehine, Mary and Lila; and her beloved brother, Salim. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to the Daily Living Center or City Hospice with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences may be shared at Brown-Cummings.com.
