Memorial Park Cemetery




Final rites will be conducted at 2 PM today in the Wesley Chapel of the First Methodist Church with Dr. Ben Sturdivant officiating for Martin Dan Abitz, 80, who died early Sunday. He had been in poor health for several years, but he became seriously ill a few months ago.

A native of Dewitt, Nebraska, he came to Enid in March 1928 and had lived here since. He was a carpenter and builder. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of Carpenters Local No. 763.

Survivors include his widow, Lucy, of the home at 822 W. Maple; two daughters, Mrs. O. R. (Ruby) Dalke, Enid, and Miss Hazel Abitz, Enid; one son, Harold, Muskogee; five grandchildren; one great – grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Brown, Enders, Nebraska; and Mrs. Augusta Jeager, Imperial, Nebraska; and one brother, Sam, Imperial, Nebraska.

Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

Abitz was preceded in death by a son, Wesley, in 1957.

Pallbearers will be Willis Ward, Melvin Martin, Carl Walls, Charles Chodrick, Floyd Snow and Glenn Coker.
