Mrs. Nettie B. Abernathy, 88, died Thursday afternoon in a Lubbock, Texas, nursing home after an illness of several months.

Graveside rites will be at 2 PM Sunday in the Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Gatlin as his officiating minister. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home until 2 PM Sunday.

Mrs. Abernathy was born in Texas and had spent most of her life in El Paso where she worked as a nurse. She and Louis Van Abernathy were married in 1913 and he died in 1920. In later years she had made her home near her children.

Survivors include six sons, Walter and Van of Tulsa, T. R. Of Yukon, Melvin of Ada, J.R. of Tipton and Dale of Enid; two daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Louise) Williamson of Lubbock and Mrs. Sid (Rena) of Grandfield; 16 grandchildren.
