The graveside service for Arley Young Abercrombie, 88 year-old Hennessey resident, will be Monday, September 22, 2008 at 2:00pm in the Memorial Park Garden Chapel. Reverend Vernon Lee will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Arley was born May 14, 1920 in Fay, Oklahoma to Robert and Effa (Stinson) Abercrombie and died on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at his home in Hennessey. He joined the military at a young age and became a Prisoner of War for over two years while serving in World War II. After returning from war, Arley married Jessie Hoisington in 1945. He loved to play golf and even at the age of 80 was still playing until he couldn’t see the ball anymore. Even then, his friends always tried to offer to see the ball for him so he could continue having fun. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will truly be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie; his parents; two sisters, a son-in-law and one great-grandchild.

Arley is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Peterman and Regena Vassar; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
