A Celebration of Life service for Kelvin S. Classen, 54, Enid, is 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade Burleson officiating. Private burial precedes the service in the Lahoma Community Starlight Cemetery, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at the funeral home.
Kelvin Scott Classen was born to Dorothy Hagar in Oklahoma City on June 9, 1962, and was lovingly put up for adoption and found his way into the arms of Jake and Marilyn Classen. He grew up on a second generation dairy farm east of Lahoma and spent time helping run the farm and participating with the family in dairy shows around the state. He attended Lahoma Public School and received his High School diploma from his dad in 1980.
As Kelvin grew up, he showed great interest and talent in mechanics, working in an auto shop, and took pride in working on his various cars and motorcycles. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior when he was a young boy and made a public witness of his faith through baptism on June 8, 1975, at the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. He later became a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. After working for Huggins and Thilstead Electric Companies, Kelvin broke out on his own and founded KC Electric in 1988. Among his many years of involvement with the United Way, where he also had the privilege of serving as president, Kelvin married Mary Martinez on May 25, 1996.
Kelvin is survived by his wife Mary of the home, sons Michael and wife Erin, Bradly and wife Whitney, daughters Conner Zaloudek and husband Ty, and Sydni Classen, grandchildren; Elliot, Amelia, Eli, and one sweet girl on the way; his mother Marilyn Classen, sister Kaylene Toelle and husband Dave, brothers Kerry Classen and wife Jen, several nieces and nephews, and his biological family Dorothy and Carl Albright and three brothers and a sister.
He was preceded in death by his dad Jake Classen, paternal grandparents Peter and Katherine Classen, maternal grandparents Charles and Mary Schneider, and many other beloved family members who are rejoicing with him today in the presence of our Savior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
