Warren “Bud” Galen Oswalt was born in Ramona, Kan., on Feb. 17, 1921, to Silas and Elsie Oswalt. Warren passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at his home in Kremlin, Okla. He grew up in Plains, Kan., graduating from high school in 1939. He attended Dodge City Jr. College and the University of Kansas. He married Mattie R. Minnis Sept. 12, 1948, in Bucklin, Kan. He worked in Wichita, Kan., for Stearman & Boeing.

e enlisted in the Army Air Force in Wichita, Kan. on Aug. 15, 1942. Warren spent four years in the Army Air Force and served as a P-38 fighter pilot in the South Pacific. He did air combat in Borneo, Luzon, China Offensive and the Western Pacific Warren was honorable discharged as a first lieutenant on July 25, 1946. He was employed for 38 years for the Rock Island Railroad retiring May 30, 1986. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Warren is survived by his wife, Mattie, of 64 years; three children and their spouses, Warren G. Oswalt Jr. and wife Pam of Okeene, Okla., Lark Schultz and husband Mike of Hillsdale, Okla., and Robert Joe Oswalt and wife Rosa of Brooksville, Fla.: eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter Jennifer Oswalt.

Funeral service for Warren will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with burial to follow in Hillsdale Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life for Mattie Roberta Oswalt, 86, Kremlin, is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Leland Streck will officiate, with burial following in Hillsdale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusua-Evans Funeral Home.

Mattie was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Bucklin, Kan., to Herman and Alberta (Burton) Minnis, and passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017,, at the Community Health Center in Wakita. Mattie graduated from Bucklin High School in 1948. She married Warren Galen Oswalt, Sept. 12, 1948, in Bucklin, Kan. Warren's 38 year career with Rock Island Railroad took them to Kansas, then back to Oklahoma, where they made their permanent home in Kremlin, following his retirement.

Mattie is survived by three children and their spouses, Warren G. Oswalt Jr. and wife Pamela, of Okeene; Lark Schultz and husband Mike, of Hillsdale; Robert Joe Oswalt and wife Rosa of Brooksville, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and one sister, Jean Dewell, of Winfield, Kan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Oswalt; and three siblings.

The family has requested memorial donations be made to Hillsdale Christian School, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
