L. D. GROOM is buried Sunday

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday morning at the Baptist Church for L. D. Groom who died here Thursday morning. Death was caused by a stroke.

Members of the Masonic Lodge took part in the service and internment was in the Marshall Cemetery.

L. D. Groom was born near Platsberg, Missouri Oct. 30,1948 and died in Covington Jan. 17, 1929 aged 80 years, 2 months and 18 days. He was the last of 12 children. He married Martha Ann Stevenson on April 17, 1870. To this union was born 6 children, three boys and three girls. The two oldest ones died several years ago.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Martha A. Groom of Covington; two sons, George of Covington and Jeff of Woodward; two daughters, Mrs. Stella Hilton of Keys, and Mrs. O. L. Stevenson of Ponca City.

At the opening of the Cherokee Strip he settled on a farm in the Marshall township and has since lived in the neighborhood.
