A private burial for Eugene "Gene" Vincent Cooper , 80, of Marshall, will be held at a later date. The Rev. Tom Donaldson will officiate. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Family visitation and viewing will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 28, 1929, on the family farm west of Marshall to George V. and Cecil Woods Cooper and died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at his home.

He grew up and attended school in Marshall.

He married Joyce Elaine Snyder May 26, 1950. They made their home on a farm near Marshall. He served on the Douglas Co-op board for more than 20 years and drove a school bus for Marshall schools.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce, of the home; two daughters, Linda Peterburs of Edmond and Annette Shelby of Marshall; two sisters, Leoba Cramer of Florida and Ruby Ward of Kansas; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one sister and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Peckham memorial scholarship fund, attn: Kim Poslick, Enid High School.
