September 4, 1972 - December 22, 2020

Funeral service for Christi Schovanec, 48, of Garber will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at the Garber High School with Pastor Mark Hein officiating. Burial will follow in the Garber Cemetery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Christi was born Sept. 4, 1972, in Enid to Mike and Debi (King) Chaney, and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, in Enid.

Christi graduated from Garber High School in 1990. She attended NOC Tonkawa for one year before receiving her associate's degree as a paralegal from Rose State College. On Oct. 22, 1994, Christi married her high school sweetheart, Travis Schovanec, in the Garber Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. After working as a paralegal for six years, she started her dream job as a stay-at-home mom to her three amazing children, who she was extremely proud of.

She was an avid gardener, loved spending time with her family and was always in attendance at her kids' activities, as their biggest cheerleader. She was a dedicated farm wife and mother - her faith and family were number one.

Christi battled AML for over four years. Her doctors referred to her as their "special patient" because she would overcome anything that came her way. AML did not defeat her; Christ gave her the ultimate victory.

Christi will always be remembered by her family and friends as the strongest woman they have ever known.

Christi is survived by her husband Travis; three children Braden Schovanec of Bartlesville, Halie Schovanec and Carson Schovanec both of Garber; her father Mike Chaney of Garber; brother Scott Chaney and wife Jennifer of Medford; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

She is preceded in death by her mother Debi Chaney, grandparents, aunt and uncles.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Garber Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Christi Schovanec Memorial Fund. Condolences online at www.andersonburris.com.
