Garber Cemetery



July 6, 1848 - November 7, 1934

Funeral services for Mr. S. H. Peters, who died Wednesday night, November 7, 1934 at his home in Garber after a brief illness, were held Friday afternoon at the Christian church in Garber when impressive ceremonies were attended by hundreds of his life – long friends to pay tribute to a Garber pioneer editor and community builder.

A veteran of the Civil War and commander of the Irvin McDowell post of the G .A. R., Rev. C. E. Venable, pastor of the Christian church officiating. The choir composed of Mr. A. E. Mathis, Stanley Letcher, Mrs. I. T. Milton, and Mrs. Glen Alton sang "Whispering Hope" and "Rock of Ages," to of Mr. Peters' favorite songs.

The Women's Patriotic Order of Garfield County took part in the services at the church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Garber post held the rites at the cemetery in Garber.
