Garber Cemetery


James Edward Moody, 71, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at his home in Garber after a 2 1/2 year bout with cancer. Funeral services will be in the Garber United Methodist Church, at 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2005, with Reverend Thomas Corrigan officiating. Burial will be at Garber Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Myers officiating. Services are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Garber.

Jim was the oldest of three children of Corbin Elmo Moody and Mary Abigail Doyle. He was born June 6, 1934, in Mountain View, Ark. His maternal great-great-grandparents were among the early settlers of that area.

After graduation, he moved to Wichita, Kan., and worked at Beech Aircraft, now Raytheon. This is where he met his future wife, Joyce Gyer and her daughter, Jeanne. Jim and Joyce were married Dec. 1, 1953, in Mountain View where they lived for several months before going to Wichita where he worked for Cessna Aircraft.

Their daughter, Joy, was born in Wichita in November 1954.

In 1957, they moved back to the family farm in Arkansas where Jim worked for Stone Country Gas Co. He also raised Angus cattle.

In 1965, they moved to Garber where Jim worked at Garber Co-Op, a position he held for almost 30 years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; two daughters, Jeanne Worth and husband, Steve of Friendswood, Texas, and Joy Hutcherson of Derby, Kan.; two grandsons, Ty and Enid Worth of Friendswood, Texas, and Mason Worth and fiancee, Sallie Lee, of Pearland, Texas; great-granddaughters, Amanda, Taryn and Stevie; one sister, Linda Blansett and husband Bill of Mountain View, Ark.; nieces, nephews and aunts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Van Nathan and Cheri Amos Moody.
