Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for ElRoy Meier, 85, of Garber, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber, with Pastor Scott Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Garber Cemetery.

ElRoy was born April 16, 1930, in Garber, Okla., the son of Wilbert and Sophie Meier and passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015.

ElRoy grew up in Garber and attended Garber schools before joining the United States Army, where he served and was stationed in Germany for a period of time.

After the service, ElRoy returned home where he met the love of his life, Ellen Jean Sattelmeier and they were married May 19, 1953. They made their home in Enid, Okla., and ElRoy went to work at G.E. Failing Company.

ElRoy worked at Failings and also farmed their land in Garber, Okla., where he and Ellen Jean eventually built their home. Elroy retired after 39 years and continued to work on the farm where he truly loved to be.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Jean; two daughters, Denise Moritz and husband Ron of Enid, and Diane Worthey of Kaw City, Okla.; two sons, Dennis Meier of McAlester, Okla., and Danny Meier and wife Shannon of Fort Bridger, Wyo.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy and Richard; and one sister, Dorothy Eddington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joan Salyer; and a son-in-law, Mike Worthey.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Garber, or LWML with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
