Funeral for Abbie “Jean” Meier will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Private burial follows in Garber Cemetery under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jean was born October 26, 1930, to Dwyer and Alma Hays and died December 23, 2013.

Jean married LeRoy Meier December 3, 1948, at Garber.

Surviving are husband LeRoy of the home; daughter Charlene Charles; sons Phillip and Charles; sisters Alma Beavers and Anne Parrack; grandchildren, Travis, Trent, Trevor, Miste, Curtis and Shaw; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brother Curtis, daughter Vickie and grandson Ryan.

A Celebration of Life service for Leroy Meier, age 90, of Garber, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Garber with Rev. Mark Hein officiating. Burial will follow in the Garber Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Leroy was born April 16, 1930, in Garber to Wilbert J. and Sophia M. Schrieber Meier and passed away Oct. 19, 2020, in Wichita, Kan. He was raised in Garber where he attended school. On Dec. 3, 1948, he married Abbie "Jean" Hays and she passed away on Dec. 23, 2013. He farmed and ranched in the Garber community for most of his life. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He worked for Halsey Long Ford for over 25 years. He served on the Garber Cemetery Association. He was the farmer of the year given by the Garber Lions Club.

LeRoy is survived by his daughter Charlene Charles and husband Terry, sons Phillip Meier and wife Jane and son Charles Meier, wife Lynette, grandchildren Travis Charles and wife Rusti, Trent Charles wife Allison, Trevor Charles, wife Jenny, Miste Munden, Curtis Meier, great-grandchildren Tabor, Tanner, Talor, Emma, Tucker, Olivia and Logan Charles, Amelia, Peyton and Slater Munden, and brother Richard Meier, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Vickie, grandsons Ryan and Shawn, son-in-law Harry, brother Elroy and sisters Dorothy and Joan.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
