GARBER - Betty Jo Long , 94, Garber, was the daughter of Ruea Althea Milton and I.T. Milton of Garber. She was born May 17, 1922, in Ripley, and died at her home in Garber, Wednesday, July 6, 2016. The service is 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016, at the Garber Christian Church, the Rev. Doyle Newsom officiating. Interment is at the Garber Cemetery, under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home.

She graduated from Garber High School in 1939 and was Valedictorian of her class. During the war she worked as secretary to the general at Vance Air Force Base.

She married Halsey H. Long in 1945, and they later owned and operated Long's Ford of Garber. She was a strong supporter of Garber school athletic and band programs.

She was a charter member of the Athenian club, a member of Eastern Star, and a member of the Garber Christian Church. She loved antiquing and owned and operated "Remember When," an antique store in Garber. She loved reading, traveling, gardening, bird watching and spending time with her family.

She particularly loved going to Detroit Lakes, Minn., and did so for over 70 years. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren continue that legacy.

She made every holiday a special event for her children and grandchildren, creating wonderful memories we will all cherish. Betty Jo is survived by two sons, Terry Weber and wife, Connie, of Oklahoma City; and Tracy Long, of Garber; daughters, Debbie Hays and husband, Larry, of Hennessey; Leslie McIntire and husband, Kevin, of Grapevine, Texas; and grandchildren, Lara Koch and husband, Brent, of Tulsa; Brandon Hays and wife, Kacy, of Edmond; and Ryan Long of Garber. She has three great-grandchildren, Abie Koch, Kalle Hays and Zoey Hays.

She was preceded in death by her husband Halsey; their son, Jon Long; and her grandson, Jeff Weber.

The family has suggested memorial donations may be made to the CWF (Christian Women's Fellowship) Garber Christian Church, 203 West Cherokee St., Garber, Okla. 73738.
