Garber Cemetery


GARBER, OK — Celebration of life service for Russell S. “Skipper” Eby, 52, of Garber will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at United Methodist Church of Garber, OK. The Rev. Dr. Don Toland and The Rev. Linda Pope will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Cemetery under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Skipper was born August 21, 1961, in Norman to Cecil “Dusty” Eby and Hila Gene Bouher and passed away April 30, 2014.

He grew up in Enid, where he attended Enid High School, graduating in 1980. At age 15, Skipper traveled with Continental Singers as a light technician. They traveled around Europe and then across the United States, with the finale in Los Angeles.

Skipper married Bernette Ward May 15, 1982, in Enid. They lived in Breckinridge for 15 years.

He was a truck driver, traveling across the country. In 2005, they moved to Enid, where they owned and operated Satellite MD until taking medical retirement in 2011. They moved to Garber, where he was in the construction business. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Garber.

Survivors include his wife Bernette of Garber; three daughters, Jacqueline Eby of Norman, Christine Pidcock and husband Timothy of Enid, Samantha Eby of Enid; granddaughter Katrina Koch; mother Hidy Eby of Garber; brothers, Bo Eby of Nashville, TN, Dusty Rex Eby of Norman; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to OMRF-Heart Division, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of funds.

Skipper’s request was for everyone to wear casual clothes to his service.
