Gerald Duane Colvin, formerly of Garber, OK, passed away on Wednesday April 14, 2021, at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole, OK, at the age of 77 years. "Burtie," as he was known by his friends, was born on February 5, 1944, in Okemah, OK, to the late Jarvis Colvin and Ruby (Stone) Colvin.

In October 1961 "Burtie" joined the United States Army where he served his country faithfully during the Vietnam Conflict until his honorable discharge in October 1967. While in the service "Burtie" was stationed in Germany. Upon being discharged from the army, "Burtie" married Virginia Snyder in July 1967, a union that would last 53 wonderful years.

"Burtie" leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, Wife: Virginia (Snyder) Colvin of Columbus, NE; Son: Quinn Colvin and wife Teresa of Columbus, NE; Daughters: Regina Colvin of Enid, OK, Sarah (Colvin) Kasper and husband Chris of Norman, OK; Sister: Myrna Henderson and husband Omer of Rose, OK. "Burtie" also leaves behind 10 wonderful grandchildren and 12 wonderful great-grandchildren.

"Burtie" is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Zane Colvin.

"Burtie" will lie in state at the Dugger Funeral Home in Garber on Tuesday (4/20) and Wednesday (4/21) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. for friends and family to stop by and pay their respects. A memorial graveside service will be held at Garber Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Heartland Hospice of Shawnee. Arrangements are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Garber, OK.
