Garber Cemetery


Garber – Funeral service for Madge L. Alton, 76, who died Tuesday in a Bartlesville hospital, following a lingering illness, will be at 2 PM Thursday in the Garber Christian Church.

The Rev. Jim Altfelish of Garber and the Rev. Ray L. Nixon of Bartlesville will officiate at the rites. Burial will be in the Garber Cemetery, under the direction of the Anderson Funeral Home of Garber.

Mrs. Alton was born March 18, 1901, in Kingfisher County. She moved to the Garber area with her parents in 1918. She was married to Glen Alton January 18, 1920. They established a home in Garber. In 1976 she went to Bartlesville to make her home with a daughter.

Mrs. Alton was an active member of the Garber Christian Church and the Guild.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (June) Alexander of Bartlesville; a son, Clyde E. Alton of Shreveport, Louisiana; her mother, Mrs. Dora Mires, Garber; two sisters, Miss Ruby Mires, Garber and Mrs. Lloyd (Carol) Spencer of Enid; two brothers, James G Mires, Norman and Wilbur Mires, Norman; four grandchildren and a great – granddaughter.

The body will lie in state until service time and the casket will not be opened after afterward.
