ENID — Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Ann Williams, 73, Enid will be Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Grayson Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Norris L. Williams. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Myrtle was born May 10, 1937, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery. She was raised in Enid, where she attended Booker T. Washington school. She graduated in 1955 at the age of eighteen years old.

Myrtle worked for twenty years in Downtown Enid for Lamberts, one of the first African-American women to break that barrier. She went from there to work at Advance Food Company where she retired after 13 years.

Myrtle was married to a James Walter Dewberry in 1956 in Enid, where they raised three beautiful children: Roberta, Rebecca and James Jr. Myrtle was a member of the Antioch church for several years, where she found God and Jesus Christ her lord and savior. In later years she attended Grayson Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Women's Mission for many years (not letting go of God once she had him). Myrtle was a community advocate and regularly attended senior activities at Southern Heights Community Center. Myrtle enjoyed recreational bingo (she loved her bingo) and trips to visit family.

She leaves to mourn three kids, Roberta Porter, Rebecca Tatum and James Walter Dewberry Jr. and his loving wife, Gloria; 10 grandkids; and six great-grandkids; her uncle, Frank Mitchell; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Condolences may be made to the family online at Brown-Cummings.com.
