The funeral for Joseph S. "Hap" Vogt, 85, will be at 2 PM Thursday at the First Baptist Church. Dr. James Wideman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery under direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

He was born October 7, 1907, at Breckenridge to Joe and Matilda Bichel Vogt and died Monday, September 13, 1993, at Bass Baptist Hospital, Enid. He attended Star Center School and on July 6, 1933, married Odessa Maxey in Enid. He was a farmer and had farmed most of his life in Garfield County. During the winter months, he worked for WPA, the State Highway Department, ASC and later Hackney Iron and Steel.

He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1942, the Builders Sunday school class, Senior Action Group and AARP. He also was a lifetime member of the Sons and Daughters of the Cherokee Strip. He had moved to Enid in 1972, retiring in 1979.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Richard of Enid; one daughter, Elwanda Wages of Enid; one brother, Adolph of Breckinridge; one sister, Mathilda Vogt of Enid; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
