Graveside service for Georgie C. Throckmorton, 77-year-old Waukomis resident, will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, in Enid Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow. Service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Georgie was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Guthrie, Okla., the daughter of Ray Dunham and Mary Jane (Camden) Dunham and died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

She grew up in the Guthrie area until the family moved to Cherokee, where they operated a grocery store. Georgie attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. The family moved to Carmen for a short time, where she was a school teacher.

In the late 1950s, they moved to Waukomis, where she was a substitute teacher and the reference librarian at the Public Library of Enid and Garfield County until retirement in 1993. Her life revolved around horses. She was well known in the horse show circuits nationwide. She would judge horse shows along with showing Arabian, paint and quarter horses. She taught a 4-H class once a year on what being a horsewoman entailed. She was a very generous person and was strongly independent. Georgie was a member of numerous horse organizations around the nation.

She is survived by her son, Rick Throckmorton and his wife Kathy of Lewisville, Texas; one grandson, Colin Throckmorton of Lewisville, Texas; and two granddaughters, Lisa Arnold of Sanger, Texas, and Bria Pagliaro and her husband Jonathan of Santa Barbara, Calif. Georgie was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mary Jane Dunham, and one brother, Raymon Dunham.
